Somatic Relational Ketamine Sessions

I offer individualized, one-on-one sessions including preparation, ketamine journeys and integration.

Ketamine treatments are becoming increasingly sought after and there is a growing number of ketamine medical clinics. What’s often missing at the clinics is an individualized, trauma-informed relational therapy process focused on addressing and accessing the roots of the trauma and healing from it.

  • As with any treatment, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional to determine if ketamine therapy is appropriate for your individual circumstances.

How Does It Work?

  1. In preparation, we will first meet for a minimum of four non-medicine, one-hour counseling sessions to address your current state of being, your needs and to resource you.

  2. I will refer you to my colleague, a medical doctor, who will prescribe the medicine for you.

  3. The medicine will be mailed to your home.

  4. Once received, you will bring the medicine to our sessions.

  5. The program is 6 – 8 weeks long with 1 – 2 sessions per week. While ketamine is active for about 1 hour, we will schedule 3 hours initially (to allow for preparation and integration time) and about half way through the program 2 hours per session (shorter preparation and integration). Taken orally, I will guide you through the experience, providing relational support and safety.

  6. You will need a ride home after each treatment as driving after the journey is not safe. For an additional fee, I am available to provide the sessions at your home within the Portland metropolitan area.

The Cost of Treatment

  • Ketamine Prescription for 6 – 8 weeks: $150–$250 (billed by the medical doctor)

  • Preparation Sessions (non-medicine): $120–$150/hour sliding scale

  • Somatic Relational Ketamine Sessions: 3 hours $360–$450; 2 hours $240–$300 sliding scale

  • Integration Sessions (non-medicine): $120–$150/hour sliding scale

What’s Ketamine?

Ketamine is a medication primarily known for its use as an anesthetic in medical settings. However, it has gained attention in recent years for its off-label use in treating various mental health conditions.

  • Ketamine works primarily as an NMDA receptor antagonist, which influences glutamate levels in the brain. This action is thought to contribute to its rapid antidepressant effects.

  • It is used to treat depression, anxiety, PTSD, and bipolar disorder, especially in patients who do not respond to traditional treatments.

  • Treatment Protocols: Ketamine therapy often involves a series of sessions, with the frequency and dosage tailored to the individual's needs. Some patients experience long-lasting benefits after a few treatments.

  • Research and Evidence: Numerous studies have shown the efficacy of ketamine in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety, with ongoing research exploring its long-term effects and potential applications.

Ketamine therapy has several potential benefits, particularly in the treatment of mental health conditions. Here are some key advantages:

  1. Rapid Relief: Ketamine can provide quick relief from symptoms of depression and anxiety, often within hours, compared to traditional antidepressants that may take weeks.

  2. Treatment-Resistant Conditions: It is particularly beneficial for individuals who have not responded to other treatments, such as standard antidepressants or psychotherapy.

  3. Mood Improvement: Many patients report significant improvements in mood and a reduction in suicidal thoughts after ketamine treatment.

  4. Neuroplasticity: Ketamine may promote neuroplasticity, helping the brain form new connections and potentially leading to long-term improvements in mental health.

  5. Pain Management: In addition to mental health benefits, ketamine is also used for chronic pain management, providing relief for conditions like fibromyalgia and neuropathic pain.

  6. Minimal Side Effects: Ketamine generally has fewer side effects compared to traditional medications.

  7. Flexible Administration: Ketamine can be administered in various forms, including intravenous (IV), intranasal, or oral, allowing for tailored treatment options.
